Poetry and burnout

Poetry can encapsulate feelings and pictures in few words.
We love poems about burnout - and we encourage before, during  and after our programme versions
(before as in before someone tackles their burnout with us).
We receive long ones, short ones, lymerics, sonnets, prose, good ones, not so good ones and more.
But regardless of length or quality - they all have an important role and offer important information within them.
It really makes our day when a poem about burnout arrives at BGHQ

This one is a before

Lost in burnout
Burnout has eaten my life
Destroyed all things with my wife
Created a whole load of strife
Now where did I put that knife

Albeit short - this is quite a worrying poem.
This person may be hinting at self harm - and even in jest this needs to be taken seriously.
They have not joined our programme at the point  of writing but in this case it might be that some depression has to be tackled first.

This one is a "during"

My burnout journey begins
The light at the end of the tunnel
Is something I can now see
From extinguished to now a flame flicker
And hope I will return to "me"

This person is at week 3 of our burnout programme.
What happens in burnout is that all hope of it ever going fades so much... this can be a major limitation in getting burnout gone.
So it is heartwarming to see a change of heart in under 3 hours over 3 weeks. Again a very short one but the message it conveys in few words - is clear.
