Making Sense of Burnout
The MSOB course is our flagship learning programme
Over 12 weeks this online self paced learning takes a person through a steady and staged (yet not onerous) process of learning about burnout in a way that facilitates
- greater insight into their burnout
- an in depth understanding of burnout
- a highlighting of the real steps that are needed for each individual to recover ( one size does not fit all).
- a good foundation is built up before leaping to any major changes
Sonia - our head goose .....explains:
"In burnout a person often wants to get out of it ASAP . There are understandable reasons for this but some caution is required.
Life with burnout is without doubt very unpleasant but if the burnout has been around for sometime - it may have already got to a point where a person is becoming despairing or desperate.
Secondly - as a result of that.... there is a desire to jump ship and so the normal processes of career exploration are often ignored.
Making big or irreversible career decisions whilst in the mists and midst of burnout is not recommended as there is a frying pan to fire risk or - the burnout merely follows you.
Our aim to foster a resolution of burnout and catalyse some changes at work ( wherever possible... first.... ) well before any thoughts of "escape".
All too often sabbaticals and holiday or even unpaid leave are taken to try to combat burnout. This is in my view - a mistake as it is not really dealing with the core issues."

_Who should do the programme?
It is a flexible course and can be useful in two main scenarios
A) the person who is still at work and who feels they cannot take time off
B) the person whose burnout is already at a level where sick leave has been decided
Each group have their own challenges and so before joining the programme it is necessary to set up a consultation by phone or zoom to establish how best to proceed . This is so that each person gets the best from the course in terms of timing and support requirements.
There are two levels to choose from
The programme comes in a self directed version and a supported version
Some people do very well on the self directed version but if funding permits - the supported version gains a more profound resolution. For this reason anyone who has one of these five situations:
Funding
Due to the fact that the Burnout Geese approach to burnout is learning/education orientated with a smidgeon of coaching if needed - our programme can often come under CPD/learning budgets.
Where self funding is neccessary we offer a monthly phased payment at a slight premium. You can ask about that at the consultation.

- - severe burnout
- - burnout complicated by other health issues
- - an associated need to examine return to work/job renegotiations
